Suwannee School District Ahead of the Pack

administrator - Thursday January 21, 2010

Faced with the current budget shortfalls and predictions of more to come, the Suwanee School District teamed with Matthews Buses, inc. to find the solution!

Congratulations to Suwanee District Schools for selecting a 1/3 Fleet replacement with a Daimler Municipal Finance plan. Spearheading the cost savings plan are Scott Pfender, Director of Transportation and Gary Colvin, Vehicle Maintenance Manager. The District saving s will come from a three fold plan:

  • Pre-purchase savings avoiding future increases
  • Maintenance, Warranty and labor Savings
  • Savings with Fleet efficiency and advantages in current technologies (less breakdowns, fuel savings and a fleet that fits the district's current needs and demographics)

The projected savings over a five year period is conservatively estimated at $450,000.00 which will lessen the stress of current budget shortfalls and save jobs.

Mr Pfender states "my decision considered the 5 year increments of replacement of the fleet which included cost savings and technological changes. Matthews Buses, Inc was chosen because of the exceptional services when measured among the available vendors and Daimler Financial was chosen as the most competitive bid. The Thomas Built Sat-T-Liner C2 was chosen among other units in the fleet."

Matthews Buses congratulates Suwanee District Schools for stepping into the future with "today's monies". Other Cost Conscious Districts to be posted soon!
