Thomas Built Bus announced that Kelley Platt has been named the new President of Thomas Built Buses, effective January 1, 2010. Kelley has been serving as the General Manager of Business Excellence since 2006. In her new role, Kelley will lead Thomas Built with responsibility for the profitability of the entire school bus business.
Kelley joined DTNA in October of 1989 as the Manager of Treasury Services. In 1997 she was promoted to Treasurer, responsible for cash and investment management, foreign exchange and insurance. In 2002 Kelley added Tax and Customs responsibilities to her porfolio. During Freightliner's acquisition years she identified potential opportunities and led the due diligence teams. Kelley played a pivotal role in the 1998 activities that led to the purchase of Thomas Built Buses from the Thomas Family and Berkshire Investors. In October of 2006 she was named the General Manager of Business Excellence with the responsibility for the DTNA scorecard, TOS Indirect and Six Sigma.
The introduction of the Truck Operating System to our indirect areas has served as a bench mark for the Daimler Truck Group. Through the successes of our Six Sigma program, DTNA has seen improvements in product quality, business processes and customer satisfaction.
Prior to joining DTNA Kelley was in commercial banking in Portland and New York. Kelley holds a Bachelors degree in Economics from Colby College and a Masters Degree in Business from Duke University. Kelley will be reporting to Roger Nielsen and will be relocating with her family to High Point, North Carolina.
